My First PleinAirpril (#11)

It is now May (Cue NSync song) and I've just taken a couple days of rest from completing my FIRST PleinAirpril challenge! Everytime I've seen entries in the past for this community event, I've always felt intimidated. I mean, one painting a day?! No way I can do it!

Well, I don't exactly remember what was going through my head at the time, but before I knew it, I posted on the 1st with a piece.

The character is my dnd character and the setting is based on a real cave in Italy!

And then, after that I posted another. And after that I posted again (Although I did pull some loooong nights to keep up). And before I knew it, it had been 2 weeks of this! I think week 2 was when I started hitting my stride and growing more confident. I didn't feel the need to strive for the best painting ever, just to complete something by the end of the day (or early morning the day after lol).

This was based off of an old photo my Grandpa gave to me. They visited the Art Museum back in 1962. I wanted to capture how happy they looked<3

In addition, although I learned to embrace the process of quick-decision making each day, there were 2 particular days where I took extra care to make pieces I was proud of. My late grandparents were both born in April, and my late dog Max was also an April baby; I wanted to create a painting to pay tribute to them. Definitely got emotional doing both, but it was on my list for AWHILE and I found it very cathartic<3

The last piece done. I wanted to end on a rainbow in Kauai, from back in 2025:) If you ever go, I recommend the botanical gardens!!!!

I'm sad it's over, but I'm so grateful I got to meet/support other fellow painters online, and grow in my confidence to engage on socials.

Now, I feel a surge in motivation to do some more applying, as well as jumping back into projects on my list that I want to finish this year! Let's do this!

In other news, I've also been playing FF7 Remake, which I started a couple years ago, only to pick back up from where I left off (which was like 40 min in lol). But now I'm at the final chapter and I LOVE IT!!!! I had a bit of an obsession with Cloud back in high school. I saw Advent Children, had no idea what was going on but loved the animation!

Happy Gaming!
